MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) is ready to cooperate with the Senate investigation into their planned arrest on controversial Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy at his Davao City properties last week.

According to PNP spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo, they are ready to face the Senate if Sen. Robinhood Padilla pushes through with his probe on the possible human rights violations in the operation.

“Ito po ay magandang pagkakataon para marinig mismo po nila sa amin kung ano po talaga yong nangyari doon,” Fajardo said in an interview with Teleradyo Serbisyo.

She added: “Talagang pinanindigan po ng inyong Philippine National Police na valid naman po ‘yong naging police operation noong nakaraang Hunyo 3 diyan po sa Davao.”

The PNP spokesperson added that the operation on Quiboloy’s properties was planned well to avoid increasing tension and to lower the risk of violence.

“At sa awa ng Diyos, bagamat may tensyon, may resistance, ay wala namang nagtamo ng major injuries,” Fajardo said.

She also stated the National Bureau of Investigation was the lead agency in the cases against Quiboloy but that the PNP will continue trying to serve the warrants.

About 100 soldiers and policemen in full battle gear were deployed outside the compound at Buhangin District at 5 a.m. on June 10 in an attempt to arrest Quiboloy, but they were met with a barricade of supporters of the KOJC founder.

As a result of the operation, Police Brigadier General Aligre Martinez, Davao regional police director, and several other police personnel have been relieved from their posts.

Quiboloy has a warrant of arrest from the Davao Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 12 for the charge of violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law, specifically the provision on sexual abuse of minor and maltreatment./PN
