MANILA – The Philippine National Police-Internal Affairs Service (PNP-AIS) has recommended the dismissal of 85 police personnel since President Rodrigo Duterte started his “war on drugs.”
The recommendation was made after 325 of the “war on drugs” related cases that underwent summary hearings were resolved, said PNP-IAS Inspector General Alfegar Triambulo.
PNP latest data showed that 4,279 drug suspects have been killed in police operations, added Triambulo.
These are on top of almost 3,000 cases that still need to be investigated.
“Some police personnel were found to be negligent in the performance of duty. We also found some irregularities in the conduct of anti-illegal drugs operations,” Triambulo said.
He added that the IAS has investigated 150 administrative cases of PNP personnel involved in anti-illegal drugs operations – 20 were police commissioned officers and 130 were police non-commissioned officers.
From those investigated, 85 police personnel were recommended for dismissal, including the 3 officers tagged in the kidnap-slay case of South Korean national Jee Ick Joo.
“Meron din kasing scalawags na ginagamit ang kampanya sa droga para sa kanilang mga sarili. Nasira ang magandang layunin ng gobyerno na bigyan ng solusyon itong problema ng droga sa ating lipunan,” Triambulo said./PN
