MANILA – Jhoanna Maraguinot had her best game in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Champions League. Tuguegarao Perlas Spikers swept Baguio City Lady Highlanders on Monday at the Aquamarine Recreational Center in Lipa, Batangas.

The former Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles volleybelle tallied 10 points, including six service aces. The Spikers notched its second victory in three matches to stay in title contention.

Cza Carandang contributed nine points. Ilongga Roma Joy Doromal adding eight points. Norielle Ipac and Nicole Tiamzon drilled six and four markers, respectively.

The Perlas ended the match in 68 minutes. Head coach Rei Diaz said the straight-set win was a huge confidence boost for the Spikers as they take on title-favorites F2 Logistics Cargo Movers this afternoon.

“The most important thing is helping one another, and for everyone to be committed,” Diaz said. “So far, everyone is sticking to our goal. So far, so good.”

The Lady Highlanders, on the other hand, tasted their third defeat in as many matches to kiss their hopes of a PNVF Champions League podium finish goodbye.

Newly-crowned Premier Volleyball League Open Conference champions Chery Tiggo Crossovers, meanwhile, vented its ire on California Precision Sports with a 25-22, 27-25, 25-23 win.

After tasting their first defeat against Petro Gazz Angels on Sunday night, the Crossovers got huge games from Dindin Santiago-Manabat and Mylene Paat to notch the win.

It was the Crossovers’ second victory in three matches to remain at second place in the standings while California Precision Sports suffered its third straight loss./PN
