KALIBO, Aklan – The Poblacion barangay hall in this town was placed on lockdown beginning Tuesday, October 13. A barangay tanod got infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Poblacion barangay captain Neil Candelario suspended the operations of the barangay hall starting Tuesday until further notice to ensure the safety of barangay employees and residents.

The barangay hall was also scheduled for disinfection to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Some barangay officials and employees have voluntarily isolated themselves after they have been in closed contact with the 36-year old barangay tanod.

Candelario said the tanod has no travel history from high-risk areas and no documented contact with a COVID-19 patient. The new confirmed case, however, is also a member of Barangay Health Emergency Response Team.

Prior to his scheduled swabbing, the said tanod was advised to undergo strict home quarantine after he manifested COVID-19 symptoms. He was later transferred to a quarantine facility for close monitoring.

As of Oct. 13, Kalibo has 70 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The town has also recorded 57 recoveries and six deaths./PN
