MANILA – Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors is not yet tired of winning.
After capturing its second consecutive championship, it aims to extend its Shakey’s V-League dominance until next season.
Lady Warriors team manager Eric Ty eyes keeping the core of their championship lineup while recruiting some from the collegiate ranks.
“Gusto talaga namin is to keep the core intact,” said Ty. “We already have some (new players) in mind pero we’re not yet disclosing kasi ayaw namin na maapektuhan sila kasi some of them are still playing sa kanilang school.”
“Ang gusto naming kunin ay iyong mga players na hindi naman ganoon ka-popular ay kaya namang punan iyong position and willing to play their role sa team,” he said.
Returning for Lady Warriors next season are Michele Gumabao, Myla Pablo, Iris Tolenada, Melissa Gohing, Elaine Kasilag, Siemens Desiree Dadang, and Shola Alvarez.
Lady Warriors, which also captured the Open Conference crown early this year, had a near perfect campaign in the Reinforced Conference with imports Breanna Mackie and Andrea Kacsits in tow. It only dropped one game.
After losing its opener against Philippine Air Force Jet Spikers, Lady Warriors swept its last 10 games, including two semifinals wins over University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses and two wins in the finals against Bureau of Customs Transformers.
“We will not be tired of winning. As much as possible, we will build a competitive lineup each conference to have a shot at it,” said Ty. “We will continue this (dominance) next season.”/PN
