MANILA – The Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors and the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses will duke it out for the top spot in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Reinforced Conference on Wednesday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Game time is at 6 p.m. following the 4 p.m. battle between the Bali Pure Water Defenders and the Philippine Coast Guard Lady Dolphins and the 12:30 p.m. clash between Champion Supra and the Air Force in the Spikers’ Turf.
At stake in the Lady Warriors-Golden Tigresses matchup is not only the top seed in the Final Four, but also the momentum needed for what promises to be an action-packed semifinals, which will begin on Saturday.
The Lady Warriors, which boasts a 5-1 win-loss slate, has not dropped a set since its five-setter loss to the Philippine Air Force Jet Spikers at the start of the season last Oct. 5.
The Lady Warriors are also peaking at the right time with American reinforcements Breanna Mackie and Kay Kacsits now blending well with the locals, led by Michelle Gumabao, Myla Pablo, Elaine Kasilag, and Iris Tolenada.
The Golden Tigresses, fresh from clinching the crown in the 21st University Games in Dumaguete City last Sunday, is also on a roll despite playing without a reinforcement this conference.
The 5-1 Golden Tigresses are relying on its gutsy all-Pinay crew headed by the Ennajie Laure, Marivic Meneses, Carla Sandoval, Pamela Lastimosa, Chlodia Cortez, and Cherry Rondina.
Meanwhile the Water Defenders, which dropped a 16-25, 25-12, 21-25, 19-25 decisioner to the Lady Warriors on Saturday, is expected to bounce back against winless Coast Guard at 4 p.m. and tie the Customs for third at 5-2./PN
