MANILA – Roger Pogoy and Jeth Troy Rosario will not suit up for the Gilas Pilipinas team that will face PBA All-Stars Visayas in the Visayas leg of the 2018 PBA All-Stars on May 27 at the University of San Agustin Gym in Iloilo City.
In a Twitter post late Tuesday, Rosario said he and his TNT KaTropa teammate will not be available for the Sunday game as they intend to focus on the FIBA 3×3 World Cup.
Rosario and Pogoy, along with GlobalPort Batang Pier’s Stanley Pringle and San Miguel Beermen’s Christian Standhardinger, will represent the Philippines in the FIBA event from June 8 to 12 at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
“RR Pogoy and I won’t be playing in Visayas for Gilas Pilipinas to give us more time preparing for FIBA 3×3. Please come and support all the players in PBA All Stars,” Rosario said.
As of this writing Gilas head coach Chot Reyes has yet to announce if there will be any replacement for Rosario and Pogoy.
Aside from Rosario and Pogoy, also listed in the Gilas Pilipinas team for the Visayas leg were Japeth Aguilar, Carl Bryan Cruz, Rey Mark Belo, Gabe Norwood, Matthew Wright, Allein Maliksi, Jio Jalalon, Jayson Castro, and Calvin Abueva.
They will be battling a stacked-up PBA All-Star Visayas of June Mar Fajardo, Greg Slaughter, Asi Taulava, James Yap, Emman Monfort, Kiefer Ravena, Jericho Cruz, Jeff Chan, Joseph Quinahan, Terrence Romeo, Ronald Tubid, and Chris Ross./PN
