THE presence of trolls online was evident when ABS-CBN went off the air as many of them rejoiced over the media giant’s closure.

But it became even more apparent when these online entities started attacking not just ABS-CBN’s social media pages, but also the 11,000-strong employees of the company  including celebrities.

Trolls are believed to be earning lots of money online ‒ mainly from engaging in “deliberately offensive or provocative online posts.” They follow a “script” and can be seen posting the same content from different accounts.

Notwithstanding the fact that she might receive more attacks from trolls, comedienne Pokwang urged her followers to stop responding to them to make them go hungry.

Deadma!”

Encouraging her followers to either block or report trolls, she added: “Or mas bongga kong i-block or report ang mga trolls.”(Push)
