ILOILO City – A 41-year-old man claiming to be a police agent was arrested Sunday night on Lopez Jaena Street, Dumangas, Iloilo for carrying an unlicensed gun.
Kenneth Tapayan of Barangay Dacutan, Dumangas was detained at the municipal police station. No less than Chief Inspector Rene Obregon, the town police chief, and his men who were patrolling the area caught him around 10:45 p.m.
According to Obregon, they spotted Tapayan walking unsteadily toward them and this made them curious.
Tapayan complained to the police about a group of men binge drinking at a nearby store. The cops, however, saw the suspect’s gun, a .45 pistol.
Failing to show a gun license and a permit to carry firearm outside of residence, Tapayan was taken to the Dumangas police station.
In detention, Tapayan claimed he was an agent of the Regional Intelligence Unit of the Police Regional Office 6 but did not offer any proof.
Tapayan faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, specifically for possession of an unlicensed gun./PN
