ILOILO City – Three persons were arrested on Saturday night for illegally selling petroleum products in Barangay Abilay Sur, Oton, Iloilo.
Marina Beuno, 53, was a resident of the barangay while Michael Sobretodo, 32, was from Barangay Pulao, Dumangas town. Eric Ebro, 23, was from Barangay Parara, Tigbauan. They were detained at the Oton police station.
Operatives of the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Regional Special Operations Unit and Oton police station arrested the suspects following a tip from concerned residents of Barangay Abilay Sur.
The arrest was effected around 10 p.m. The suspects had 21 drums in an Isuzu Elf truck (plate number KCS 478). These were confiscated.
“The suspects were selling fuel to motorists and this adversely affected the operation of gasoline stations in neighboring towns,” said Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, PRO-6 spokesperson.
Aside from the 21 drums of petrol also recovered were 10 bottles of petroleum, a hand pump, a plastic hose and an improvised funnel./PN
