ILOILO City – An “asset” of the Leganes, Iloilo police station was arrested for illegal drugs, deadly weapon and drug paraphernalia in Brgy. L98, Jaro district here.

The 36-year-old Severino Quidato of Brgy. Poblacion, Leganes was caught by Jaro policemen around 2 a.m. during an “Operation Bakal.”

Quidato claimed he worked for the Leganes police station. However, Leganes police chief, Senior Insp. Cyril Octavio denied this.

“He is not our asset. I don’t know him,” Octavio said.

Quidato also claimed to be a former “asset” of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Prior to his arrest, Quidato was seen entering Brgy. Bakhaw in Mandurriao.

Aside from a knife, the Jaro police said, three empty plastic sachets of shabu were recovered from Quidato.

“Even if he were a police or PDEA asset, we would still arrest him because he violated the law,” Chief Insp. Rhea Santos, Jaro police chief, said.
