ILOILO – All chiefs of police in the province have been ordered to clear two drug-affected barangays in their respective area of responsibility by August.
According to Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas, Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director, he would assess how each police station fared in this short-term mission after three months.
An assessment this August would determine the reasons for the success or failure of the mission.
Knowledge gathered from this three-month mission will be used to further enhance anti-drug campaign across the province.
As early as last week, the chiefs of police had begun implementing their mission.
While Salinas hailed the consistent weekly drug operations in the 4th and 5th districts, he said the police stations from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd districts of Iloilo had not shown much in the campaign.
Specifically, Salinas mentioned the towns of Miag-ao, Tigbauan and Oton in the 1st District and Janiuay, Pototan, Lambunao, Calinog and Cabatuan in the 3rd District.
“Each district’s police stations should come up with illegal drug operations every week,” Salinas said, adding that the anti-drug drive must be consistent and sustained.
He also wants all chiefs of police to focus on running after wanted persons.
This, after he received reports that wanted persons were being used by illegal drug personalities go after those adversarial to their illegal drug trade.
Salinas acknowledged the continuing support to the IPPO of the Iloilo provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr.
During yesterday’s Performance Governance System Presentation of the IPPO at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, the province turned over one computer set to the police force of the province./PN
