ILOILO City – A police official is under investigation for allegedly firing his gun inside the compound of the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPMFC) in Sara, Iloilo.
Police Major Terrence Paul Sta. Ana was assigned at the Regional Learning Doctrine Development Division (RLDDD) of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6). He was placed under restriction since Thursday last week.
Sta. Ana was allegedly drunk when he fired his gun twice. This caught the attention of his fellow policemen who got out from their offices.
Sta. Ana subsequently left the camp and voluntarily submitted himself to the PRO-6. He turned over his short service firearm to the Regional Logistics and Research Development Division (RLRDD) for ballistic examination.
The PRO-6’s Regional Internal Affairs Service will be in charge of Sta. Ana’s case.
“The PRO-6 does not tolerate any misconduct of its personnel and with our intensified efforts on internal cleansing, we will ensure a fair investigation,” Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, PRO-6 director, said.
Meanwhile, Sta. Ana denied he was drunk but admitted he fired his gun twice.
The Police Major said he visited the camp to check how prepared the police in the area as part of their target hardening.
He claimed that when he entered the camp, there were no personnel posting in the sentinel area and this irked him.
“I will face the consequences of what I did. I’m ready to submit myself for an investigation. I submitted myself for restriction and I already turned over my gun,” Sta. Ana said./PN
