MALAY, Aklan – Police Community Precinct (PCP) 4 in Barangay Caticlan here was temporarily closed.
Eight personnel tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The eight were part of the 43 police personnel swabbed for COVID-19 testing.
Malay police chief Lieutenant Colonel Don Dicksie De Dios asked people with transactions at PCP 4 to instead proceed to PCP 5 in Barangay Poblacion.
“Mula araw ng linggo ng umaga, sinarado natin ang presinto (PCP 4) for disinfection, contact tracing at swab testing ng ating mga personnel,” said De Dios.
How did the policemen get infected?
“Umuwi ang isang personnel sa Iloilo City para mag-proseso ng papeles sa Police Regional Office 6 subalit isa siya sa naging close contacts ng isang COVID-19 patient,” De Dios said.
PCP 4 was locked down beginning May 9 and “until further notice.”
As of Monday afternoon, May 10, Barangay Caticlan logged 11 active COVID-19 cases, including six new cases in Sitio Proper and one case in Sitio Minuro./PN
