BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office is conducting an investigation into the attempt on the life of Councilor Ricardo Tan and wife Anita on Friday.
The Tans were on their way home from the family-owned Campuestohan Highland Resort at around 5:40 p.m. when at least three unidentified assailants fired at their Nissan Patrol vehicle.
Both were safe and sustained mere abrasions. They were treated at the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital, said Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, BCPO public information officer.
“A thorough investigation is being conducted to determine the motive and identify the suspects,” Gabana said.
Scene of the Crime Operatives led by Chief Inspector West Codilla recovered 24 shells of a 5.56 rifle and seven others for a .45 pistol from the crime scene.
Bullet holes were found on the windshield, driver’s side and rear of the Tans’ vehicle.
The gunmen ambushed the couple while their vehicle was cruising Purok Tagaytay, Gabana said.
Radio reports said Tan continued driving until they reached Police Station 5 in the neighboring Barangay Granada where they sought assistance before proceeding to the hospital.
Tan has yet to issue a statement as of press time. (PNA)
