BACOLOD City – Police Regional Office (PRO)-18 has advised all its police personnel to monitor coastal areas especially the ones facing Panay Island.
This was following the incident on Sunday where members of the New People’s Army (NPA) raided the Maasin municipal police station in broad daylight.
Chief Superintendent Edmund Gonzales, PRO-18 director, said he has already instructed the directors of Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Nocppo), Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office, and Bacolod City Police Office to strengthen their security measures.
There should be a continuous engagement between the police and the community and to never let down the guards of the personnel on duty, he added.
Gonzales also emphasized timely intelligence gathering, as he advised coastal monitoring especially areas facing Panay.
Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, officer-in-charge of Nocppo, said he is considering a threat from the NPA daily.
He advised all police stations under Nocppo to double their efforts in intelligence gathering.
It is also important to coordinate with local government units for support, Castil said./PNferential road sa Brgy. Balabago, Jaro sang tinalikdan nga bulan./H
