ILOILO City – A suspect in the shooting incident in Bacolod City’s 18th street in Barangay 5 has been identified.
Police Station 2 commander Police Captain Paul Vincent Pendon said they have gathered enough evidence and have positively identified the suspect, although for now they will not reveal the suspect’s name pending the filing of criminal charges.
Based on the evidence they have gathered, Pendon said the suspect and victim Geory Adeva were formerly “close friends.”
However the suspect and the victim got on bad terms due to a transaction related to illegal drugs.
Pendon said the suspect is “one of the key players” in Bacolod City’s illegal drug trade.
The police is currently trying to determine the volume of illegal drugs being smuggled into the city by the suspect, he added.
On July 3, Adeva was shot dead while aboard his motorcycle in the city’s Barangay 5.
Based on eyewitness accounts, the suspect first shouted, “Naling-an na ko sa imo, tapuson ta na ni,” after which he opened fire at Adeva, killing him on the spot./PN
