Policemen put 3 chiefs in trouble

ILOILO – Three police chiefs face administrative charges. Their policemen “abandoned” their posts, according to the National Police Commission (Napolcom) Region 6.

The three were Chief Inspector Reymund Celoso of Barotac Nuevo police station, Chief Inspector John Van Herson Luspo of Ajuy police station and Chief Inspector Abner Jordan of Concepcion police station.

Napolcom-6 director Atty. Joseph Celis conducted unannounced inspections of the three police stations on May 24. There were no desk officers at the Ajuy and Barotac Nuevo police stations.

According to Celis, there were also no duty officers at the Ajuy police station during the inspection.

At the Concepcion police station, Celiz caught Senior Police Officer 1 Agustus Estonila wearing slippers.

According to Jordan, however, Estonila was actually already preparing to go home after wrapping up his duty that day.

Celoso, on the other hand, said his duty officer, Police Officer 2 Richie Britaña, was at the police station’s comfort room when Celis arrived.

For his part, Luspo confirmed his desk officer, Police Officer 1 Virgil Baludio, was indeed not in his post when Celis arrived.

Celis stayed at the Ajuy police station and waited for Baludio for 15 minutes.

Iloilo Police Provincial Office director Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba said the three police stations may be relieved from their posts.

“I always remind policemen not to leave their stations unmanned, na laging handa not only for inspections but to protect the police stations and serve the public better. I’m not tolerating police officers na tamad, said Tayaba./PN
