Policemen shoot man who killed live-in partner

ILOILO City – A 48-year-old man was shot by policemen after the former shot his live-in partner on Saturday night in Barangay Tuburan, Santa Barbara, Iloilo.

Jose Marco Ocampo was a resident of Lessandra Subdivision, Pavia, Iloilo. He died at the Western Visayas Medical Center where he was taken after Santa Barbara policemen shot him around 7 p.m.

His live-in partner was Rachell Lopez, a 39-year-old school teacher and resident of Barangay San Nicolas, La Paz, Iloilo City.

Lopez died while being treated at the Iloilo Mission Hospital for a gunshot wound in the abdomen.

Ocampo and Lopez had a heated argument on the road, according to Santa Barbara police investigator, Police Staff Sergeant Ricky Subaldo.

A concerned citizen informed the Santa Barbara police about the couple. A team of cops quickly responded.

Ocampo shot Lopez then fired at the policemen, too. The cops fired back.

It was unclear what Ocampo and Lopez were arguing about.

Ocampo’s .45 pistol was recovered by the police./PN
