ILOILO City – Over 40 personnel of the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) 1st Company took over the one-day teaching duties of teachers at Pandan Elementary School in Barangay Pandan, Lambunao, Iloilo.
Ma. Rocel Llona, principal, said the school requested the policemen to handle their classes on Oct. 4 in observance of World Teacher’s Day (which was actually celebrated yesterday).
The PRO-6, which has a “Pulis sa Katawhan: Bringing the Philippine National Police Closer to the Community through School Initiatives” program, agreed.
“We requested the services of the RPSB to replace us so we can relax the whole day,” said Llona.
Most of the police officers who handled classes were Education graduates so “they know how to deal with pupils.”
Their topics were very informative and compatible with the grade level they handled, said Llona.
Llona is a member of the Regional Advisory Council (RAC) of the RPSB.
RPSB’s 1st Company commander, Senior Inspector Edgar Anonoy, said the elementary school was the first recipient of the Philippine National Police’s “best practices” project called “Pulis Ko, Titser Ko.”
On Wednesday, the police officers discussed with elementary pupils crime prevention, laws governing children, love of country and the Anti-Bullying Act, among others.
The RPSB company is based in Janiuay, Iloilo. (PNA)
