BACOLOD City – Colonel Henry Biñas, the city’s police chief, assured maximum security and patrol operations at the newly opened Bacolod Esplanade.
Biñas said he will deploy eight policemen to patrol the area 24/7 after mayor Evelio Leonardia ordered to secure the esplanade from vandalism.
The P37.2-million project funded by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was recently vandalized even before its inauguration and public opening.
“The vandalism there is a wakeup call for us to protect and maintain the area as it will be a prime attraction in Bacolod City,” said Leonardia.
He also requested city council members to pass an ordinance regulating the activities at the esplanade.
The multi-million project, the first of its kind in this city, was opened to public on Monday. It is part of the construction of 440.0-lineal meter revetment wall with floodwall along Lupit River, including improvement of riverbanks./PN
