BACOLOD City – The City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) now has custody of the official ballots to be used in Monday’s midterm elections.
City Treasurer Giovanni Balalilhe said they have received around 353 ballot boxes, envelops and other poll paraphernalia from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
He added that aside from the official ballots, indelible inks were also delivered.
“CTO, being under the Department of Finance, is deputized by the Comelec to handle the custody, safekeeping and distribution of the election paraphernalia,” said Balalilhe.
On May 4, Comelec delivered the election paraphernalia to the CTO.
It was witnessed by representatives of the Comelec, Philippine National Police, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting and several poll watchers of the local candidates.
Balalilhe noted the election paraphernalia are now kept at the Bacolod Arts Youth and Sports Center.
“We already asked the Bacolod City Police Office to augment additional police forces to further secure these election paraphernalia,” he said./PN
