Polls, ‘Undas’ prompt ‘red alert’ for NegOcc DRRMO

BACOLOD City – Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has placed the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) of Negros Occidental under a “red alert” status ahead of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) next Monday, Oct. 30, and the upcoming observance of the All Saints’ and All Souls’ days, or “Undas.”

In a memorandum dated Oct. 23, the governor had the province’s Emergency Operations Center operation begin at 8 a.m. on Oct. 28 until 8 a.m. on Nov. 3.

All concerned agencies, offices, and the City/Municipal Risk Reduction Management Offices in Negros Occidental are also advised to raise their alert status and intensify safety measures for possible deployment of responders to different areas of convergence, such as polling precincts and cemeteries.

The local disaster officers are also directed to continuously send situational reports to the provincial office and coordinate with their respective election officers for necessary preparedness measures. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
