HIMAMAYLAN CITY, Negros Occidental – Negrense Bernadeth Pons will banner the 1st Mayor Raymund I. Tongson Jr. Beach Volleyball Women’s Open 2020 on New Year’s Day at the Batang Peninsula here.
Pons and her Team Negros partner Dij Rodriguez were tipped as favorites in the pocket tournament following their broze medal finish in the 30th Southeast Asian Games women’s beach volleyball.
Also competing are the veteran tandems of Ilonggas Jackie Estoquia and DM Demontano of the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors and Jennifer Cosas, and Erjane Magdato of University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.
Completing the cast are ReadyGetSetGo Team of Myrtle Escanlar and Terri Escanlar, Talisay City Team of Gelimae Villanueva and Kyla Gallego and R12 Team of Angel Canino of De La Salle Zobel, and Bea Gapusan of University of Santo Tomas.
The six teams are to be divided into two groups with the top two finishers from each group advancing to the knockout crossover semifinals round. The finals will be a knockout match.
