A TOTAL of 150 farmers in Pontevedra, Capiz who are members of the Lantangan Small Farmers Multi-purpose Cooperative will benefit from the Shared Service Facility (SSF) on Smokehouse Project of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Set to launch on May 12, the said project amounting to P235,000 also supports the “One Town, One Product” of Pontevedra which includes fresh and processed sea foods.

The launching and blessing of the project will be graced by Pontevedra Mayor Esteban Jose Contreras, DTI Officer in Charge Regional Director Wilhelm Malones and Capiz Provincial Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development Council Chairperson Danilo B. So Chan.

Under this project, the selected industry association will be given proper facilities and equipment suited to their needs and is commonly used by MSMEs under a shared system.

DTI’s SSF Project aims to attract inclusive growth and job generation. In order to attain this goal, the DTI partners with various local government units to act as co-operators of the project. The project is also expected to benefit the MSMEs on sea food processing in the towns of Pilar, Pres. Roxas, and Panay.

DTI-Capiz Provincial Director Ermelinda Pollentes said that being a flagship project of DTI, “SSF seeks to address the gaps and bottlenecks in the value of chain of industry clusters in order to make MSMEs within the group more competitive and productive.” (With reports from DTI-Capiz)/PN
