PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan – The Pontevedra girls futsal team claimed the gold medal in the Batang Pinoy National Finals 2019 after a 3-1 win over Davao in the finals on Saturday here.
The Pontevedra squad, which was represented by Calvary Baptist Academy, jumped to an early advantage against the Davaoeños before thwarting the latter’s attempt to bounce back to clinch the crown.
Spearheading the Pontevedra team of coaches Jonilda Delim and Pastor Julius Villaranda were Aliexa Mae Casi, Hannah Marie Montalban, Sofia Marie Gelera, and Joyce Gemberva.
Also part of the eight-woman squad were Annica Art Gargar, Ferriella Faye Hamili, Mhyelle Gwyn Soliguen, and Princess Hulguin.
Pontevedra’s girls volleyball team, on the other hand, settled for a silver medal finish. It suffered a 21-18, 21-18 defeat in the hands of General Santos City squad.
