Pontevedra squad rules national futsal

MANILA – Calvary Pontevedra Futboleros Club of Negros Occidental claimed the championship in the U-16 girls category of the Allianz National Futsal League on Sunday in Santa Cruz, Laguna.

MVP awardee Sandy Matunding made the goals that allowed Calvary Pontevedra to beat Cordillera Binnadang 2-1 and captured the title. Watashi team settled for third place.

Moreover two from Calvary Pontevedra – Justine Marie Mamon and Melona Rafil – were chosen to be part of the eight players in the Allianz Junior Football Camp in Thailand this July.

If they impress in Thailand, they will have a chance to be part of the three players who will go to Munich in September for a training with Bundesliga champ FC Bayern Munich.

Other members of the Calvary Pontevedra squad are Jenny Marie Jaga, Ginalyn Javier, Monica Pasco, Mekylla Robles, Aliexa Casi, Shayne Emilia, Angel Egay, and Jolinda Demil.

Meanwhile Jaro Iloilo FC failed to duplicate the victory of its Western Visayas counterpart after losing to Global FC 1-3 in U-16 boys. Davao FC took home the third place trophy.

Iloilo’s PAREF Westbridge, on the other hand, settled for a fourth place finish in U-14 boys after losing to Don Bosco in the battle-for-third. The Ilonggos got a consolation with Jetchmore Kiev Erekre named Best Goalkeeper./PN
