BACOLOD City – The city government distributed 50,000 bags of grocery items as Christmas gift of the city government to the “poorest of the poor” on Dec. 25.
Each bag contained a kilo of spaghetti pasta, spaghetti sauce, corned beef, luncheon meat, sardines, and cereal sachets.
The indigent claimed their Christmas bags either at their barangay centers or from their village leaders.
Previously, the distribution of Christmas bags was held at Mayor Evelio Leonardia’s residence or at the Bacolod BAYS Center.
“This time, we’re bring our Christmas gifts closer to the people. That is why we decided that the bags be delivered to the 61 barangays on Christmas Day, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said.
The barangay tanods and volunteers were deployed in the distribution centers to ensure peace and order./PN
