PPA to build P749-M cruise ship port in Aklan

KALIBO, Aklan – To welcome more travelers aboard cruise ships, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) will build a modern and dedicated cruise ship port in Buruanga, Aklan.

The construction of port terminal in Barangay Alegria has an approved PPA corporate budget for calendar year 2024 of P749,578,209.32. The contractor is required to complete the multi-million cruise terminal project in 900 calendar days from the receipt of the notice to proceed.

PPA will hold a pre-bid conference on Monday, May 13, at the PPA Function Hall, 7th Floor, PPA Building, Bonifacio Drive, South Harbor, Port Area, Manila.

Bids must be received by PPA’s Bids and Awards Committee secretariat through manual submission on or before 9 a.m. of May 28, 2024.

Bidders must have Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) Registration: Large B – Port, Harbor and Offshore Engineering to qualify.

The winning bidder will construct the reinforced concrete platform and pier, the rock causeway and the port facility of the cruise facility in Barangay Alegria to cater the growing demand for cruise tourism in Boracay Island.

PPA has been expanding the port facilities and infrastructure in Palawan, Bohol, Ilocos Sur, Surigao del Norte, Manila, Camiguin, and Ilocos Norte to maximize the reputation of the country as a top-notch tourist destination.
