MANILA – The government should again look at the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system as it moves forward with upgrading the country’s infrastructure, the head of a European business lobby said.
The Philippines should look at Thailand whose mass transport system, which includes a subway, was built through PPP, said Guenter Taus, chairperson of the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines.
The administration of President Rodrigo Duterte has said that it prefers to fund infrastructure projects through a “hybrid” of public funds and official development assistance.
“We have a very functional PPP in place so I dont understand why its not being utilized,” Taus said in an interview with ANC.
Taus said the government should also look at bringing down the cost of logistics as the Philippines, which he said is one of the most expensive in the region. (ABS-CBN News)
