MANILA – Defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers and Petro Gazz Angels are set to tangle in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference out-of-town match on Oct. 13 at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City.
The Cool Smashers and Angels battle is an interesting one following their heated Reinforced Conference championship encounter that was won by the latter in three games.
It was not the first meeting between the two teams since then, however. The Cool Smashers won its first round meeting with the Angels this conference, 25-19, 28-26, 25-20, on Aug. 24.
The match also served as a homecoming for Bacolodnons Melissa Gohing and Fille Cainglet-Cayetano, who were the Cool Smashers veterans along with Alyssa Valdez, Michelle Gumabao, Risa Sato, Jessica Galanza, and Julia Morado.
Aside from the Cool Smashers-Angels match slated at 4 p.m., PacificTown-Army Lady Troopers is set to face BanKo-Perlas Lady Spikers in the first game at 2 p.m.
The two teams also have Western Visayas-based players in their roster. Ilonggas Nerissa Bautista and Jeannie delos Reyes and Guimarasnon Jovelyn Gonzaga play for the Lady Troopers while Ilongga Roma Doromal and Negrense Giselle Tan plan for the Lady Spikers.
Those two matches will have a lot of implications in the semifinals race as the season-ending tournament reach the crucial phase of the second round.
