MANILA – The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is making a return to Iloilo City after four years with a double-header match on March 14 at the University of San Agustin Gymnasium.
Facing the first game at four in the afternoon were 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference champions Petro Gazz Angels and Chery Tiggo Crossovers, to be followed by defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers and Akari Power Chargers at six in the evening.
The Angels are to be led by Passi City, Iloilo-native Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Negrense Jonah Sabete, while the Crossovers will parade a pair of Ilonggas in libero Ria Beatriz Duremdes and Ma. Shaya Adorador.
The Cool Smashers, for its part, will have Bacolod City-native Fille Cainglet-Cayetano on its roster, while the Power Chargers has Ilongga Danielle “Dani” Ravena and Negrense Christine Joy Soyud.
“We are happy to announce that we will be bringing [two] official PVL games here in the City of Love as the stars of Philippine volleyball are coming this March 14, 2023,” said Gametime Sports’ Rodolfo Go Villaruz.
Prior to this, the last time the PVL played an official game in Iloilo City was last October 5, 2019 featuring the Angels-Pacific Town Army Lady Troopers game and the Cool Smashers-Choco Mucho Flying Titans encounter at the SanAg Gym.
Villaruz added that tickets for the matches are still available but warned the Ilonggo volleyball fans to avoid scammers who were allegedly selling tickets for the games on various online platforms.
“We have received reports that there was a lady who has been messaging people that she has tickets for sale and has been asking downpayments / full payments thru her GCASH,” Villaruz said.
Villaruz further said that, as per the PVL Commissioner, no one is allowed to sell PVL match tickets aside from the organizing body, which is Gametime Sports in the SanAg Gym match.
“Please do not transact with the people or numbers outside the ones on the Gametime Sports Facebook pages or on the poster. Gametime will never ask for downpayments or full payments without an exchange for tickets,” Villaruz said./PN
