CAPIZ – New activities are to watch out for this upcoming Capiztahan 2024, according to the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) of Capiz.
Alphonsus Tesoro, PTCAO head, disclosed that preparations by local government units (LGUs) are ongoing for the annual cultural and Capiz’s founding anniversary celebration, slated for April 11 to May 1 this year.
According to Tesoro, the provincial government aims for the celebration not only to be centered in the capital city of Roxas but to also bring the festivities to Capiznons in different towns.
Among the new activities to look forward to is the “Dance Drama,” which will depict the history of the province of Capiz, he said. Different LGUs and participating schools will be involved in portraying an important event in Capiz’s history through a dance performance.
Tesoro believes that through such events, the people will become more familiar with the province and what they can contribute to the improvement of not only Capiz but also the country.
This year’s edition is the 123rd Founding Anniversary of the Civil Government of Capiz since its establishment in 1901 through Republic Act No. 115, or “An Act Extending the Provisions of the Provincial Government Act to the Province of Capiz.”
In 2023, PTCAO recorded over 11,000 guests who traveled to the province and stayed in various accommodation establishments to witness the Capiztahan celebration./PN
