MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte said he will appoint retiring Army chief Rolando Bautista as the next Social Welfare secretary.
“The next DSWD secretary…is Rolly Bautista,” Duterte said in a speech on Thursday before members of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association in Malacañang.
Duterte made this pronouncement even though he said more than two weeks ago that he was eyeing Bautista as the next National Food Authority administrator, replacing Jason Aquino.
Bautista, a 1985 graduate of the Philippine Military Academy, was the first Presidential Security Group chief under Duterte.
The DSWD is currently headed by acting secretary Virgina Orogo. (With ABS-CBN News/PN)
