ILOILO – Vice President Leni Robredo and former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. who are both running for president are campaigning in this province this week.
Marcos will be here on Feb. 24. The next day, it would be the turn of Robredo.
Marco will be with his running mate, Mayor Sara Duterte of Davao City, and their candidates for senator.
They will have a grand rally at the Tamasak Arena & Football Field in Barotac Nuevo town beginning at around 4 p.m., according to Passi City’s Vice Mayor Jesry Palmares, provincial chairman of Lakas-CMD which is the party of Duterte.
Before the Barotac Nuevo rally, the Marcos and his team will have engagements in Iloilo City and in 1st District towns.
The grand rally in Barotac Nuevo will be hosted by former 4 District congressman Ferjenel Biron, said Palmares.
Marcos and Duterte tapped Biron to head their campaign in Iloilo.
On Feb. 25, Robredo and running mate Sen. Francis Pangilinan will campaign in the province (with stops in the towns of Oton, Santa Barbara, Pototan, Ajuy, and Concepcion), according to Ariel Castañeda, chairman of Robredo People’s Council-Iloilo.
“I-celebrate niya with the Ilonggos ang commemoration sang 36th year sang EDSA People Power Revolution,” said Castañeda.
A grand rally will be held, too, A possible venue is the Iloilo Sports Complex in La Paz, Iloilo City, said Castañeda.
The next day, Feb. 26, the Robrero-Pangilinan tandem will proceed to Guimaras./PN
