WASHINGTON – Donald Trump and Joe Biden have been trading insults over each other’s position on a vaccine for coronavirus.
President Trump again hinted that a vaccine might be available before the November presidential election and accused his Democratic rivals of “reckless anti-vaccine rhetoric.”
Biden expressed scepticism that Trump would listen to the scientists and implement a transparent process.
“He has said so many things that aren’t true I am worried that if we do have a really good vaccine people are going to be reluctant to take it,” Biden said.
“If I could get a vaccine tomorrow, I’d do it. If it cost me the election I would do it. We need a vaccine and we need it now. We have to listen to the scientists,” he added.
Trump, who is trailing in the polls, hit back at a White House news conference, calling Biden “stupid,” adding he “should immediately apologize for the reckless anti-vaccine rhetoric.”(BBC)
