ILOILO City – Does a son of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. plan to run for an elective post in Iloilo in the 2025 midterm elections?

Presidential sister Sen. Imee Marcos, who graced Iloilo province’s Liga ng mga Barangay Day 2023 at the Iloilo Sports Complex yesterday, set the record straight.

Sinabi ko lang na may ganung chismis, nakiki-marites lang ako,” she told Panay News yesterday.

The senator was referring to her recent NET25 television interview where she was asked about the reported plans of the President’s sons to enter politics.

“But I have no proof, I have no evidence, I have no basis in fact,” she clarified.

Marcos also said the matter has not been discussed by the family.

“I know that Lisa Marcos has been coming over to teach at the West Visayas State University. I think she is here virtually every Friday. She is helping the law faculty. And I heard they finally bought a house. Her family, the Aranetas, really derived from Bacolod so I understand there is a great deal of rumor-mongering that they are in fact to run either in Bacolod or Iloilo. (But) it has not been discussed in the family,” she explained.

Marcos also said she has no idea about the rumor that the Marcoses have inquired about registering as voters in Iloilo City.

There is even another gossip, she lamented, that a presidential son or Aimee Marcos, their ward who now in lives Cagayan De Oro, is also going to run in the said city.

The senator added that even she and her son were not spared of rumors that she would run for mayor of Manila while a son of hers would run for mayor in Makati City.

“So parang Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao? I frankly think it is entirely unnecessarily and unseemly because after all, my brother is already President. It is not like he does not have enough work. Napakadami na niyang trabaho, sasakupin pa buong Pilipinas? Ano ba yan,” the senator quipped.

Senator Marcos said it is actually hard to “recruit’ Marcos kids into politics.

And I worry that there are so many Marcoses in politics,” she added./PN
