BACOLOD City – A suspected member of the Iloilo-based Prevendido drug group and his live-in partner were arrested in an entrapment operation in Barangay Estefania, police said.
Andresito Palabrica and Joan Villasor were caught in a house in the village around 8 p.m. on Saturday, a police report showed.
Joint elements of the City Drug Enforcement Unit and Police Station 4 staged the arrest.
Palabrica, a Level 2 high-value drug target, was caught after he sold suspected shabu to an undercover officer for P1,000, the report added.
Palabrica’s arrest led to the apprehension of Villasor.
Recovered from their possession were about 25 grams of suspected shabu worth around P300,000.
Palabrica and Villasor were detained at the Police Station 4 lockup facility.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against them, police said.
‘Shabu’ worth P105T seized in San Carlos
Suspected shabu worth an estimated P105,000 was recovered in a drug buy-bust operation at Fatima Village in Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
The suspected drugs which weighed around 7 grams were confiscated from the 40-year-old resident Ronnie “Toto” Fernandez, a police report showed.
Officers from the San Carlos City police staged the sting operation around 2:10 a.m. on July 26.
Fernandez was detained at the San Carlos City police station lockup facility.

Birthday shooting kills 1, hurts 1
Accidental firing was what killed a 40-year-old man at a birthday party in Barangay Makiling, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, according to police.
Resident Edmundo Tizon sustained a gunshot wounds on the left thigh.
He was rushed to the Alfredo E. Marañon Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Sagay City where attending physician Dr. Edelberto Co pronounced him “dead on arrival” due to loss of blood, a police report showed.
It was around midnight on Saturday when the shooting happened.
Tizon, who was drunk, suddenly drew his .45-caliber pistol, causing a commotion at the birthday celebration.
Tizon’s mother, the 73-year-old Edrena, tried to pacify him. The two grappled over the gun until it was accidentally fired, hitting them both.
Edrena, who sustained a gunshot wound on the pelvis, was also rushed to the Alfredo E. Maranion Sr. Memorial District Hospital.
She was later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City where she was currently recuperating. (With Mae Singuay/PN)
