ILOILO City – Santa Clarita’s bid to title retention started with an outclassing showcase against PAREF Westbridge, 101-44, on Satuday, at Western Institute of Technology’s STS Gym.
Giann Paul Nahine, Mon Pedrajas, Kimrey Servano and Jemar Cepriano spearheaded the offensive game of the defending champions, who are playing sans stars Frank Tono and Ralph Bajon.
The Primes set the game pace with an early 18-6 blowout via hits from Nahine and Cepriano with their lead blowing further with Westbridge struggling in their offense.
Head coach Rodel Camacho lauded his team’s efficiency from start to finish, despite playing their third game in different tournaments the last three days.
“I am glad that the energy and hustle of the team is still there kahit sunod sunod ang games namin. Hopefully, masustain lang namin, kasi we want to defend our title,” coach Camacho said.
As last year’s champions, the Primes represented Western Visayas all the way to the round-of-16 of the NBTC National Finals.
