Pringle carries Ginebra past Alaska in 2020 PBA PH Cup

MANILA – Stanley Pringle carried the scoring cudgels for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings in the endgame as they cruised to an 87-81 victory over Alaska Aces in the 2020 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup at the AUF Sports Arena and Cultural Center in Pampanga last night.

Trailing 75-77 with over three minutes in the fourth quarter, Pringle scored on a layup to level the count at 77-all. He then completed a three-point play and scored another two-pointer to put Ginebra up 82-77.

The Aces rallied to within three points twice in the final minute on baskets from Michael Digregorio and Rodney Brondial, but free throws by LA Tenorio and Pringle sealed the win for the Kings.

Pringle finished the match with 31 points, including four three-point conversions while Aljon Mariano and Japeth Aguilar added 14 markers apiece as the Kings halted its two-game slide and improved to a 5-2 win-loss slate.

Vic Manuel tallied 17 points while Robbie Herndon and Digregorio added 15 and 13 markers respectively as the Aces saw their two-game winning run slide down to 5-4.

In the third PBA game, TNT Tropang Giga vented its ire on NorthPort Batang Pier with a 112-87 domination and secured a place in the playoffs with their league-leading 6-1 slate. The Batang Pier dropped to 1-5.

After suffering its first defeat to NLEX Road Warriors last week, the Tropang Giga zoomed to a 9-0 start against Batang Pier on hits by Roger Pogoy and Bobby Ray Parks Jr. The lead grew further to 30-13 with late hits from Parks and Pogoy.

TNT widened the lead further in the second period with consecutive outside hits from Jeth Troy Rosario and Ryan Reyes. It went up to 88-52 in the second half on a basket from Almond Vosotros.

Parks finished the match with double-double 22 points and 10 rebounds while Pogoy chipped in 15 markers for Tropang Giga. Kelly Nabong tallied 17 points to lead the Batang Pier.
