MANILA – NorthPort Batang Pier’s Stanley Pringle emerged as the scoring champion in the PBA Season 43, ending the three-year reign of former teammate and now San Miguel Beermen guard Terrence Romeo.
Pringle, who is also the frontrunner in the MVP race, averaged 21.0 points in the 2017-2018 PBA season beating Beermen center June Mar Fajardo, who normed 20.6 points in three conferences.
Romeo failed to even land in the top 20 list after missing the most part of the Philippine Cup with Batang Pier due to injury and having an inconsistent numbers in two conferences with TNT KaTropa.
Also in top five of scoring list were Matthew Wright of Phoenix Fuel Masters (17.6 ppg.) Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings’ Japeth Aguilar (16.4 ppg), and Sean Anthony of Batang Pier (16.3 ppg).
Pringle is also the leader in most minutes played with an average of 38.9 per game and 3-point field goals made with 3.0 per outing. The 31-year-old guard, however, was also on top in most turnovers per match with 3.2.
Fajardo, who missed almost the entire eliminations of the Governors’ Cup due to injury, re-asserted his presence in the middle by leading the rebounding department with 12.3 per game.
Alaska Aces’ Chris Banchero was the top assist man with a 5.0 average, while Anthony led in steal with an average of 2.0 every game. NLEX Road Warriors’ John Paul Erram leads the blocking with 1.9 averages.
Meralco Bolts guard Baser Amer was the most accurate from three-point range at 40 percent shooting, while Aces’ JVee Casio was the most efficient from the free throw line with a high 92.4 percent shooting./PN
