PRISAA: WV spikers drub Region 5 foes

THE WVPRISAA secondary girls volleyball team bested Region 5 with a 25-14, 25-18 straight set victory in the PRISAA 2019 National Games on Wednesday at the University of Mindanao-Matina Campus in Davao City.

Kiesha Bedonia displayed her pristine serving down the stretch as the Bacolod Tay Tung High School-reinforced WVPRISAA cruised to its third consecutive victory and assure a semifinals seat.

WVPRISAA team manager Jose Montalbo praised the players to keeping their composure in the match despite some non-calls from the referees.

“I am happy with their composure because kahit may mga non-calls tuloy lang sila sa laro,” Montalbo said. “May mga hindi naitawag na double contacts dun sa opponents especially in the second set but that happens.”

The WVPRISAA tertiary men’s volleyball, composed of players from Central Philippine University, cruised to its second straight victory on Tuesday evening with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-7 sweep over Bicol.

The region’s tertiary women’s volleyball team was able to bounce back from its defeat to Cordillera Administrative Region on Tuesday when it defeated Davao squad on Wednesday.

The Negrense players laden WVPRISAA tertiary men’s basketball team scored its second straight win after an 87-70 rout on Region 3 on Tuesday night at the Almendras Gym./PN
