PRO-6 apprehends 56 for violating Comelec gun ban

ILOILO City – Since the implementation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban on Aug. 28, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has arrested 56 violators throughout Western Visayas.

A breakdown of the arrests up to Sept. 28 revealed that of the violators, 52 were civilians, two were security guards, and two were members of other law enforcement agencies.

During these operations, PRO-6 seized a total of 45 firearms and 24 other deadly weapons.

In terms of regional numbers, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (PPO) led with 17 arrests, closely followed by the Iloilo PPO with 12.

The Capiz PPO reported seven arrests, the Iloilo City Police Office made six, the Bacolod City Police Office recorded five, the Aklan PPO had two, and both the Regional Mobile Force Battalion and the Guimaras PPO reported one arrest each.

In a statement, PRO-6 director Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor urged the public, “Let us be obedient to the law. This should serve as a warning to our fellow citizens. I hope everyone supports our campaign for the successful upcoming elections.”/PN
