KALIBO, Aklan – Strong anticrime campaign and public safety operations led to the peaceful celebration of the 2018 Ati-Atihan Festival in this capital town, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

There were no major incidents that happened during the festival, except for vehicular accidents and other petty crimes, PRO-6 said in a statement.

Police officers and security personnel composed of other law enforcement agency members and peacekeeping volunteers were deployed to strategic areas in the town.

Checkpoints and choke points were also set up in all entrances and exits during the revelries.

Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, PRO-6 director, thanked the general public, the local media, security personnel, and volunteers for contributing to the peaceful celebration of one of the most sought-after festival in Western Visayas.

Ati-Atihan Festival – considered as the “Mother of all Philippine Festivals” – was celebrated from Jan. 15 to 21./PN
