ILOILO City – Expect better operational capability from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) against criminals and insurgents.

It received 600 new Galil ACE-N22 assault rifles from the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters.

Galil rifles, manufactured in Israel, are known for their reliability and accuracy even under adverse or battlefield conditions.

They are not too heavy, ergonomic and easy to maintain.

Police General Rene Pamuspusan and staff received the Galil rifles on Monday, Feb. 24, in Camp Delgado, the PRO-6 headquarters.

According to American Rifleman, a United States-based monthly shooting and firearms interest publication, “Although this (Galil) rifle is clearly based on the (Soviet) AK (Kalashnikov rifle) design, it demonstrated a superior level of accuracy potential compared to several of its cousins.”

Also turned over to the PRO-6 were 28 tactical VHF low-band (Harris) radios, 551 enhanced combat helmets, a truck, and two Hi-Ace vans.

“We are very thankful. The national command is really supportive in terms of logistics,” said Pamuspusan.

The items will be distributed to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 and to provincial and city mobile force companies./PN
