PRO-6 chief: Intensify drive vs loose firearms, PAGs

ILOILO City – To keep the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) peaceful, the director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) ordered policemen to intensify the campaign against unlicensed firearms and private armed groups (PAGs).

All unit commanders and police chiefs across Western Visayas were told to review the list of fugitives in their areas and carry out gun searches.

The BSKE is on Oct. 30.

“We will strictly implement all the guidelines set by the Commission on Elections and will intensify all our police operations and anti-criminality campaign,” said Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor, PRO-6 director.

Monitoring potential PAGs is part of this.

Patuloy ang pag-monitor natin ng PAGs para ma-stop natin ang kanilang movements. We aim to have peaceful elections and we need the community to support us. Be responsible citizens by not engaging or involving yourselves in election-related violations,” Villaflor added.

Earlier, Philippine National Police chief General Benjamin Acorda Jr. claimed there were 48 active and potential private armed groups in seven regions, including Western Visayas./PN
