ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has apprehended 114 illegal drug trafficking suspects and confiscated shabu and marijuana valued at around P11.25 million in a series of antidrug operations across Western Visayas from August 5 to 11.
During the weeklong crackdown, law enforcement conducted 89 separate operations, leading to the seizure of 1,654 grams of suspected shabu worth an estimated P11.25 million and 4.6 grams of marijuana valued at P552.
A significant drug haul occurred in Bacolod City where police arrested three high-value targets and seized about 300 grams of suspected shabu valued at P2.04 million.
The operation took place at 7:08 p.m. on August 10, 2024, in Barangay Tangub. The suspects, identified as Jerome, 37, of the Bugalon drug group, Lloyd, 29, from Valladolid, and Aive Jean, 32, from Hinigaran, all reside in Negros Occidental.
In another major bust, the Capiz Police Provincial Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit confiscated 150 grams of shabu worth P1.02 million in Roxas City.
The operation, executed at 9:15 p.m. on August 9, 2024, in Barangay Banica, led to the arrest of Nandro, 41, Christian, 40, and Joel, 56, all locals of Capiz.
Additionally, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office seized 110 grams of shabu valued at P748,000 in an operation on August 9, 2024, in Barangay Purok 4, Pavia, Iloilo, under a search warrant.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, the Western Visayas police director, commended the operatives for their commitment to eradicating illegal drugs.
“These accomplishments reflect the hard work and dedication in our campaign against illegal drugs. Continue to work on identifying accomplices of these suspects and focus on validating the information to ensure effective law enforcement actions,” he said.
The suspects are now detained and will be charged under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
