ILOILO City – One of the key initiatives being considered by Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), is the establishment of command centers and closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera systems in crime-prone areas across Western Visayas.

During his recent first command visit to the Aklan Police Provincial Office, Wanky said around 99 percent of street crimes in the National Capital Region are resolved with the aid of CCTV footage.

He emphasized the importance of having CCTV cameras in place so that incidents can be monitored in real-time from command centers, even without the physical presence of the police.

Additionally, Wanky stressed the need for quick reaction teams in the command centers to promptly respond to incidents as they occur.

Meanwhile, regarding threats faced by media personnel, the region’s top cop encouraged them to approach the authorities for assistance and security to ensure their safety.

Wanky also highlighted the partnership between the police and the media in delivering news to the public, showcasing both the accomplishments and shortcomings of law enforcement personnel./PN
