ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is running after wanted persons who could be used as goons in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
PRO-6 acting director Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor ordered city and provincial directors, and municipal police chiefs to review their lists of persons with arrest warrants and place them behind bars.
“This is one way of preventing them from being used as goons or mag-create sila ng grupo to sabotage the election. So pina-intensify ko na ang paghanap sa kanila,” Villaflor said.
On the other hand, no organized criminal groups (OCGs) were monitored in Western Visayas, according to the PRO-6.
The Regional Intelligence Division (RID) has yet to detect OCGs after the pandemic, but the PRO-6 remains on the lookout for remnants of dismantled criminal groups.
“We will not be complacent. Our intelligence personnel continue to monitor the activities of those on the list, especially those who have standing arrest warrants,” Villaflor said./PN
