ILOILO – Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, ordered investigation into the alleged summary executions in the province.

The regional director also assured appropriate interventions are being taken.

“I can tell you na Western Visayas is generally a very peaceful place,” he added.

On Sunday, March 26, alleged summary execution survivor Glen Paloma, 29, was found hogtied and with gunshot wounds in Barangay Calaboa, Leganes town.

Paloma served jail time in 2016 for illegal drugs but was able to secure a plea bargain in October last year.

On March 23, Allen Sanchez, 58, was found dead in Barangay Linobayan, Tigbauan town. Three sachets of suspected shabu and one sachet of marijuana were found in his wallet. At the back of Sanchez’s shirt was the inscription, “Para sa bayan Toto Desilos Ungka BJMP Munti Drug Group.”

Police Captain Mary Jane Panes, chief of the Tigbauan police station, said the investigation was still ongoing into the victim’s possible involvement in illegal drug activities.

Police Major Rolando Araño, spokesperson of the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO), said provincial director, Police Colonel Ronaldo Palomo, ordered a wider and intensified presence of cops.
